in brief, a catch-up
It’s been a bit hectic since landing back from Vegas. Here’s what’s been going on.
Toe is all healed up. The week before my checkup appt., I busted the orthopedic shoe I was given, the seams just split open. But my orthopedist gave me a clean bill of health. I was worried that I’d overdone it, as though the shoe breaking was a barometer that I wasn’t taking it easy. Here’s my x-ray.
I can’t see where the fracture is healed, but then I couldn’t see the fracture on the original x-rays (I peaked at ‘em when I was walking across the parking lot). But Dr. Romero says I’m fine to jump and kick and whatever. It’s going to take some time to stop compensating and actually walking on my left big toe again (read: walking normally).
I just finished the sound design for Hybrid, Austin Script Works’ 9th Annual Out of Ink Festival. It runs one more weekend at the Blue Theater (link). You know some of it’ll land in my mixtape (long overdue, I know).
SXSW. Wow, what a ride! Jen and I saw the Toadies on Tuesday night, not a SXSW show but pretty cool. Then, at the NASA party, saw A-Trak (Kanye West’s deejay) and Bonde Do Role. Saw Thunderbirds are Now! and Imperial Teen at Hot Freaks. Missed Menomena and Les Savy Fav, but only because I have no patience to stand in long lines that don’t move.
We had a great lunch at Koreana (7th Street and Sabine). Not especially cheap but just what we needed. They had this up at their restaurant.
I think it’s hilarious.
