We Hate Your Site
Work for We Hate Your Site, a user interface and experience testing platform.
This first phase included logo design, sitemap creation, wireframing, flow diagrams and the creation of the user interface. The splash page utilized CSS, site design and web graphics work. The programming was done separately in a Ruby environment. Progress was halted prematurely before the project was completed.
Outerloop Management
New identity and business cards for Outerloop Management, a management company based in Washington D.C. We used a spot gloss on a 15pt card stock.
Font for the design is DINPro.
Jeff Payne
Complete design and WordPress integration of JeffPayne.net; social media is inherent with Twitter buttons for each entry. Feedburner does the RSS work (both an accessible RSS feed and a RSS feed to email).
ten gallon hat designs
Web site for Ten Gallon Hat designs (custom furniture, wooden accessories and other artisan work) built in WordPress for ease of client maintenance. Includes a jQuery-based sliding panel for image display and organization.
Along with the logo and the bulk of the site’s photography, the web site was built with the end experience in mind. Like Jonathan’s artistic statement, “… Organic forms that combine aesthetic and comfort, while unconventional construction and raw beauty of materials present a true sense of freedom.”
Identity and business card design for Ten Gallon Hat Designs. These cards are foil printed on thin sheets of oak and then cut into 3.5″ by 1.5″ cards by Cards of Wood in Michigan.
The outlines were done by a previous designer and we cleaned them up. The font on the logo and on the cards is Eurostile.
Laura Morgan designs
Catalog design for Laura Morgan designs. These books were designed 8.5″ by 8.5″ square and printed by the client’s vendor. The pages are held together by a binder ring — designed such that the pages can be easily removed or added. A select few of the rings contain some kind of jeweled bobble, some small piece of Laura’s jewelry stock. Most, for cost reasons, do not.
After designing several pieces of her branding and identity — including logo cleanup, her business cards and jewelry tags — it was clear that Laura Morgan designs needed a clean and elegant look as so much of her work is inspired by nature, architecture and oil paintings. As such, the font used on most of Laura’s collateral is Avant Garde Gothic.
pda, summer 2009 collateral

pda, a night of dj’ed electro, indie, retro music and the kitchen sink at Elysium that happens semi-regularly. Its title is based on the song by Interpol.
For this design, I wanted to have a display of vinyl record sleeve spines like you’d see a shelf of books, to demonstrate the variety of music. I setup two photo shoots, one at my friend John Gross’ house and then one at Backspin Records but I had a problem with the readability and clarity of the spines — some were just old and battered and some were still in plastic — and then not having all the records I’d need to have. So, I did what anyone’d do in my situation, I created it from scratch.
Some are based on actual spines, some are based on the cd spines, some are just completely made up. Some of the logos were found (Röyksopp, Bjork, the Sisters of Mercy overbombing graphic), some were traced (Depeche Mode, elastica, TV on the Radio), some were created from thin air.
The type used for the logo and info are the Maple Origins (created by Last Soundtrack) and two flavors of Condensed Futura.

Orenda logo
Logo and stationary design for Orenda, a recreational water treatment business based out of Dallas and Phoenix. They create and distribute non-toxic and non-hazardous additives that prevent algae growth and staining without harsh algaecides and toxic alternatives.
KW Cares stationary
Two-sided business cards created for Keller William’s Realty non-profit arm, KW Cares. This was part of a complete stationary kit for the group — including letterhead, envelopes and thank you cards.
I was hoping that the cross version of the card would be used, a leading contender for a while but no dice in the end.
As KW Cares is a charity whose mission it is to help people in need, I thought that the use of white space to indicate a cross was powerful and iconic. But like I said before, it didn’t pass the muster.
Gill Sans is the font used on both of these cards (standard for most of Keller Williams materials).
