Catalog design for Laura Morgan designs. These books were designed 8.5″ by 8.5″ square and printed by the client. The pages are held together by a binder ring — designed such that the pages can be easily removed or added. A select few of the rings contain some kind of jeweled bobble, some small piece of Laura’s jewelry stock. Most — for cost reasons — do not.

After designing several pieces of her branding and identity — including logo cleanup, her business cards and jewelry tags — it was clear that Laura Morgan designs needed a clean and elegant look as so much of her work is inspired by nature, architecture and oil paintings. As such, the font used on most of Laura’s collateral is Avant Garde Gothic.

A series of draft logos for Overture Technologies, a financial services company whose offerings include mortgage processing and school financial aid. Direction from client: “Overture means better decisions.”

The green and orange are legacy colors for the company. Fonts in this series include Aldus and Avant Garde.

Font used is Optima, a nice san-serif with the appearance of a serif font. Best of both worlds in a way.

With both of these, I wanted it to be playful and appropriate for the season. The fonts used are zebrawood and futura.

Designing a unisex t-shirt for Loves, Mariessa posed an interesting challenge — after all, her name has the word love in it and hearts in her logo. Since the brand is a boutique fashion line, it needed it to be edgy (my favorite descriptive word), bright and cool. I had my work cut out for me.

Turns out Mariessa didn’t like any of these — she’s going with something more distressed and more about clothing construction, a dress form and sewing machine parts — but I liked the execution of integrating hearts with a larger concept about either 1) a tough act or 2) big talk to make it more likely that a boy would wear it.
