A series of draft logos for Reistrup Realty, a real estate group in Austin, Texas that offers signature services for first-time homeowners as well as luxury clients.

Fonts in this series include Avenir, Eurostile and Gotham. The final logo, the single Julie, was a hand drawn signature re-traced as a vector and cleaned up in Illustrator.

New business cards for Outerloop Management, a management company based in Washington D.C. We used a spot gloss on a 15pt card stock.

Font for the design is DINPro. We also developed a desktop wallpaper in various sizes in this same vein.

Web site for Ten Gallon Hat designs (custom furniture, wooden accessories and other artisan work) built in Wordpress for ease of client maintenance. Includes a jQuery-based sliding panel for image display and organization.

Along with the logo and the bulk of the site’s photography, the web site was built with the end experience in mind. Like Jonathan’s artistic statement, “… Organic forms that combine aesthetic and comfort, while unconventional construction and raw beauty of materials present a true sense of freedom.”

Identity and business card design for Ten Gallon Hat Designs. These cards are foil printed on thin sheets of oak and then cut into 3.5″ by 1.5″ cards by Cards of Wood in Michigan. A second part — not yet implemented — includes a small rectangular white sticker that includes three photos of some of his designs, a kind of mini-portfolio. This will go on the front of the card in the upper right-hand corner.

The outlines were done by a previous designer and we cleaned them up. The font on the logo and on the cards is Eurostile.

A series of draft logos for Overture Technologies, a financial services company whose offerings include mortgage processing and school financial aid. Direction from client: “Overture means better decisions.”

The green and orange are legacy colors for the company. Fonts in this series include Aldus and Avant Garde.

pda is a night of dj’ed electro, indie, retro music and the kitchen sink at Elysium that happens semi-regularly. Its title is based on the song by Interpol.

For this design, I wanted a bright piece that would stand out in a dark nightclub. I wanted the turntable/mixing graphic to look like what mixing sounded like, using the grooves of the record to splice into one another and then the dj’s arms to resemble turntable arms, almost robotic. But simple yet warm.

The type used for the logo and body text are Chunk Five (Adobe) and Skia.

Poster for the theater show the Long Now by the Shrewd Productions, opening May 21st at the Blue Theatre. Written and directed by Beth Burns, this story considers the turbulent nature of time, and the impossible hope of capturing a perfect present.

The challenge in this poster design was creating a piece that was at once technical (Time is one of the characters in show), organic with a bit of danger that looms just on the edges. We went through several iterations — one was too whimsical, one was too serious — before settling on this one. I think that the paper texture that I used for the background works well in the scope of the show, the puppet that plays Time has that same kind of rough hew to it, projecting on a canvas sheet.

The font for the text is Gotham. The background is a found schematic and I drew the birdcage, tracing and referencing several photos online. The girl and the bird are stock.
